2025/2026

Term 1

Meg and Mog

The children really enjoyed this week's story of Meg and Mog. After sharing the story, we collected sticks to make into magic wands, then painted them. The children made their own Mogs from black and white strips of paper and yellow eyes.

For maths this week the children looked at collections and whether there was more than, the same or fewer than. We used all sorts of items to count from mini beasts to blocks as well as dots on a dice.

This week's PE was full of witches and wizards! We were working on finding spaces and being aware of others, so the children role played by flying on their broomsticks and stopping in a space of their own. We made a spell and threw bean bags into a cauldron.

During child-initiated time, the children had a chance to use the large play equipment in the shared area, created magic spells with the play dough and practised their jumping.

Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs Children s Book

This week we learnt all about the Three Little Pigs. As well as sharing the story, the children created a pig picture, using pink paints, sticking on ears, eyes and snouts; pretended to be the big bad wolf and took part in a blow painting activity.

In Maths we looked at numbers 1,2 and 3. As well having groups of 3's in the environment, the children used their fingers to represent these numbers, sang number songs and made links to our book of the week by counting the pigs on each page.

We had such a great time in our first PE lesson. The children went up to the hall and moved around the hall as pirates, walked the plank to practice balance and jumped through the sea of hoops!

During our learning time, the children have continued to explore all the areas of the nursery.  They have been busy in the outdoor mud kitchen, baking cakes, painting, investigating how the cars move along ramps and digging for bugs. We played musical instruments and used the singing stones to choose our songs.

Getting to know you

A very warm welcome to all our children and families. We have had a lovely week getting to know each other and the children have been busy exploring the different environments.

We have shared stories, sung songs, made marks, explored the outside area and begun to make friends.
